Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), signed the Peace Accord on Monday to show his support for a peaceful election.
On February 25, 2023, the country holds its presidential election.
Tinubu is seeking to become the next president of Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari on 29 May, 2023.
To become president, he must defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and others.
Today’s event was the signing of the 2nd National Peace Accord by Presidential Candidates and Party National Chairmen ahead of the 2023 General Elections, organized by the National Peace Committee, in Abuja.
APC’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, were at the event, among others.
At the event, the PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar was absent. He was represented by his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, while the PDP’s chairman, Iyorchia Ayu was present.
