The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled a mock accreditation with eligible voters for next week Saturday, February 4, 2023, using the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS).
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the commission’s Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement on Friday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja.
He stated that 456 polling stations would be used across the country for the exercise.
After the mock accreditation, the INEC boss stated that the BVAS machines would be configured and ready for use in the general elections.
Yakubu explained that the mock accreditation exercise is intended to test the BVAS machines’ readiness for the upcoming elections.
The INEC chairman also stated that, while non-sensitive materials have been distributed, sensitive materials for the elections to the various states are nearing completion.
Yakubu, who stated that the commission may consider other options for PVC collection, expressed satisfaction with Nigerians’ desire to collect their voter cards.
He stated that as of Thursday, approximately 839,720 of the 940,200 PVCs sent to Lagos state had been collected.
Remember that the INEC announced last week at Chatham House that there would be a mock accreditation with the BVAS machines before the election.
