The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State spoke out on Sunday about the absence of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from the party’s presidential campaign of Bola Tinubu.
In a statement, the party’s Lagos State chapter stated that Osinbajo’s absence from the campaign will not affect Tinubu’s chances in the 2023 presidential election.
The party stated that it has put in place a structure to win the general elections in 2023.
This comes as some members of the ruling party have remained silent on Tinubu’s presidential ambitions since losing to him in the APC primaries.
Although the APC presidential campaign council (PCC) spokesman, Festus Keyamo, stated that Osinbajo’s absence from campaigns is due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to focus on governance, there are concerns that Osinbajo would have been fully involved if he had won the party’s presidential ticket.
In an interview with Punch, Seyi Oladejo, the APC spokesperson in Lagos State, stated that Osinbajo’s absence will not affect Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Oladejo said;
We are not bothered; we have an enduring structure to deliver for the election. Remember we have never lost the state since the advent of this democracy and everything points to our victory.
