Adams Oshiomhole, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, joined other leaders of the ruling party on Sunday in claiming that the redesign of the naira was intended to thwart the presidential election.
The former governor of Edo State claimed on Sunday that the Central Bank of Nigeria tricked President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) into approving the naira redesign policy in an interview on Channels Television’s “The 2023 Verdict.”
While absolving Buhari of any wrongdoing, the APC leader asserted that, despite not knowing the circumstances surrounding the President’s approval of the policy, he thought Buhari had been duped.
“So, I can guess – I was not there – that in obtaining the approval, I believe the CBN deceived the President by amplifying the need to have corruption-free electioneering as if the election is the only project this President has a responsibility for,” Oshiomhole said.
