In response to a supreme court decision regarding the expiration date for old naira notes, protesters stormed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, along with the office of the attorney general of the federation (AGF).
Recall that on Wednesday, a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court chaired by John Okoro temporarily barred the federal government from limiting the use of the old naira notes after February 10.
The ex parte application was submitted by the governors of the states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara.
Speaking with reporters in Abuja, Obed Agu, one of the leaders of the protesters, said President Muhammadu Buhari should issue an executive order maintaining the aforementioned date as the deadline for the use of old naira notes.
