Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate for governor in Rivers, has pledged that if elected during the election on March 11, he will reintroduce jobs to the state’s thronging youth population.
On Wednesday, he addressed his supporters at the party’s campaign rally in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
The co-founder of Sahara Energy Limited claims that the state has a large number of unemployed young people.
According to him, this is one of the main causes of the state’s poverty and insecurity.
He promised to change this trend by bringing jobs to the people.
“We will create viable industries that will thrive; We will ensure that young people with ideas have an opportunity to grow.”
The APC candidate addressed the issue of housing in the state, highlighting that Rivers State is the only state in Nigeria without a housing project, even with the numerous housing interventions provided across the country.
He promised to give adequate attention to the housing deficit in the state, and ensure agriculture is given its necessary quota.
Cole also emphasized on the importance of speaking to the people. “I’m not like those who only talk to their party members and are waiting to be Governor to talk to the rest of you. I will talk to Rivers people now, I will talk to you when I am Governor and I will still talk to you all when I leave office.”
The APC candidate urged Rivers’ people across party lines to vote for him, stating that his government will be a government for all.
Cole who has been tagged as an ” outsider politician”, by his political opponents has been on an aggressive Campaigns across the State.
