The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has reacted to the closing of all universities and inter-university centres by the National Universities Commission, NUC, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Obi commended the NUC for ordering the closure of all universities and inter-university centres.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the NUC ordered the closure of universities between February 22nd and March 14 across the country to enable students participate in the 2023 general elections.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, gave the directive following consultation with relevant security agencies.
Reacting, Obi on Twitter wrote, “I heartily welcome the decision of the National Universities Commission (NUC), to close universities ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“So as to enable the students participate in the polls and exercise their constitutional rights to vote.”
