In the early hours of Friday, it was reported that a Guaranty Trust Bank branch in the Federal Capital Territory’s Mararaba neighborhood was on fire.
Before Abacha Road in Karu, the GTBank branch is situated alongside the Nyanya and Mararaba Expressway. The FCT and Nasarawa State share a border with Mararaba.
A Twitter user, @braunsyrup, had at 8:04 am on Friday, called the attention of the Federal Fire Service, and the GTBank to the fire incident.
When contacted, the Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Yes, there was a fire outbreak at the bank, but we have put it out.”
According to a report from the fire department, the inverter system’s power surge started the fire, which was extinguished at 8:40 am.
It was also stated that the server room on the top floor of the one-story building was where the fire first started.
According to the report, the fire destroyed some furniture, the inverter system, and batteries.
As of the time this report was filed, was unable to confirm whether there were any fatalities or injuries as a result of the fire.
