Guard Jailed For Sleeping On Duty

One Danjuma Abdullahi, a security guard, has been sentenced to 12 months’ in prison for sleeping on duty and during which the theft of motorcycles occurred.

Danjuma was convicted and sentenced by an area court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday.

The Judge, Thomas Ajitise, sentenced Abdullahi, after he pleaded guilty to negligence of duty and prayed for leniency but gave him an option of N100,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gowkat, told the court that the case was reported at the C Division Police Station on January 3, by Messrs Musa Alhassan and Musa Ali that they asked the defendant to watch over their motorcycles, but that he slept off while on duty and two motorcycles were stolen.
