Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, has prayed to God to choose the best leader to address the country’s various challenges.

This was stated by the revered monarch on Thursday when he received President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, and other ruling party leaders at his palace.

As a traditional ruler, Abubakar said he could not openly take sides in the political contest, but he would continue to receive everyone who sought the throne’s blessing and pray to God to give the country the best president who would elevate Nigeria to greater heights.

The monarch told Buhari that many people had come before him for the same reason, and that many more would come in the future, and that he would continue to pray for the country.

He was disgusted by those who are in the habit of abusing and cursing leaders because such leaders are not performing to their satisfaction.

He claimed that cursing leaders is tantamount to cursing the country and the system, and that such individuals only serve to complicate matters for the country.

We will continue to pray for our nation. We cannot be tired of praying and will continue to advocate for peaceful and free elections in our fatherland.

If you pray for leaders, God may answer you and intervene to make them perform better for the benefit of all. But if you curse them, God may also answer you by intervening to make them weak and confused, also for the hardship on the people. We all suffer for the consequences of what we say about our leaders.

Our concern is peace, security, stability and development of the country in all ramifications. That is why we don’t openly support any candidate, believing that God has already known who the leader we are praying to have, is.

He assured President Buhari that the Caliphate was behind him in his efforts to ensure free and fair elections, adding that he had always prayed to God to help him do better for the country before stepping down.
