Festus Keyamo, the Chief Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (APC), has laughed off a recent comment by Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere.
Adebanjo, speaking at a memorial service for the late President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Prof. George Obiozor, in Lagos on Wednesday, chastised wealthy Igbos for failing to support the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the upcoming elections.
Adebanjo stated that despite the fact that many Igbo people are billionaires, they have refused to financially support Obi’s presidential campaign.
Keyamo responded to the development in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle on Friday, saying he believes the LP neither gives nor receives money.
He stated that Obi supporters are in denial until after the election, even though the numbers do not add up to give their candidate victory.
He wrote:
Oh, really? I thought it was a complete no-shi-shi game. You don’t give and you don’t get! #LyingPeople (LP).
The hypocrisy of some is nauseating. In their own case, they’re sourcing for funds for elections only ‘for logistics’. In the case of the APC, it must be sourcing for funds to ‘influence the elections’ or to ‘buy votes’. So, the ruling party is totally insulated from ‘logistics’.
One unique thing about elections is that supporters live in denial till after voting, even when the signs are there that the numbers cannot add up to give your candidate victory. It is only AFTER your loss is announced that you acknowledge the handicap that was there all along.
