Liverpool fear Thiago Alcantara could be out for four weeks after picking up a hip injury, according to a fresh report.
Liverpool’s performance in the Merseyside Derby this evening is appalling.
Having failed to win a Premier League game in 2023, the Reds take on Sean Dyche’s Everton team. They have, in fact, only earned one point from their last four league games, scoring two goals and allowing nine.
This run has dropped them to tenth in the league, 12 points off the Champions League places and 22 points behind table toppers Arsenal.
Liverpool’s poor form has been exacerbated in part by a slew of injuries.
According to the Telegraph, Thiago could be out for four weeks after injuring himself in training.
The Spanish midfielder joins a list of first-team stars that includes Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Ibrahim Konate, and Roberto Firmino.
Meanwhile, Juventus loanee Arthur Melo has yet to play a league game this season due to injury.
Thiago’s absence will see him miss the Merseyside derby as well as Newcastle away next Saturday. The 31-year-old will also be absent for the first leg of the Reds’ Champions league round of 16 against Real Madrid.
The report claims it is uncertain when Thiago will be able to return from injury if it is as bad as first feared.
Klopp has received some positive news, however, with Jota expected to be back for the Newcastle game.
Meanwhile, Diaz sent a message to Liverpool fans regarding his recovery on Friday, with the player tipped to be back in the middle of March.
Speaking to Sky Sports the 26-year-old winger said: “I hope to be back soon.
“Let’s wait a little just to see when I can come back to the pitch and if it’s at the Bernabeu, it will be no worries.”
