Pandemonium has broken out in Imufu Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North local government area of Enugu state on Monday following the invasion of the community by hoodlums.

WITHIN NIGERIA source Mrs. Uramaja revealed that “these unknown gun men invaded our market, destroying people’s wares and snatching new motorbikes from the owners. They were about six in number.”

According to our source, ” they came on motorcycle, wearing masks and fortunately only palm wine sellers and buyers were much in the market. They destroyed the palm wine gallons and kegs, poured out their content, snatched as many new motorbikes as they could. They shot sporadically in the air to disperse any intruder and then ran away.”

Another source also explained that “ initially we thought that they were motorbike operators. But when they started shouting and ordering everybody to go back to their house, that today is sit-at-home, we now came to realize that these were not ordinary people. They snatched the motorbike of my friend who came to buy some things in the market. People were running helter skelter for their life.”

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the council area has become a hot bed for so many criminal activities, leading to the recent amnesty program instituted by the state government for the criminals in the area.

However, all efforts by our reporter to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe proved abortive as he was not picking his calls.
