John Brooks has been replaced as the VAR operator for Liverpool’s game against Everton on Monday and Arsenal’s game against Manchester City on Wednesday.
John Brooks made errors when he mishandled VAR during Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
A Brighton goal was ruled offside and disallowed due to improper application of the VAR regulations.
On Monday, Andre Marriner will take over for Brooks, and on Wednesday, David Coote will become the VAR.
According to Howard Webb, CEO of the referees’ union PGMOL, Premier League officials will meet this weekend to discuss mistakes made in the use of VAR.
Webb has already contacted Brighton and Arsenal in order to correct mistakes in their games.
The VAR operator, Lee Mason, did not call offside on Brentford’s equalizer against Arsenal.
Mason requested a VAR review of Ivan Toney’s 74th-minute goal in retaliation for Ethan Pinnock’s challenge on Gabriel, an Arsenal defender.
The incident was later ruled not to have occurred, despite claims that Christian Norgaard was offside during the buildup.
Mason, who now solely handles VAR-related tasks, had no say in Norgaard’s stance on Arsenal’s defenders.
Pervis Estupinan’s goal against Selhurst Park was reversed after a VAR review revealed that the Ecuadorian was offside.
Instead of Marc Guehi, a fellow Palace defender who was positioned deeper and playing Estupinan onside should have drawn the offside line.
