Former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, said he recommended Nigerian marksman Terem Moffi to Nice — his former club — after working closely with him in the national team.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Moffi joined Nice from Lorient, where he scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season in a deal worth €30m on deadline day in January 2023.
Moffi made his debut for eighth-place Nice in their 3-1 win over Olympique Marseille last Sunday.
According to Rohr, who handed Moffi his international debut for Nigeria two years ago, the 23-year-old ranks among the best strikers in Europe.
Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, Rohr said, “It is a pleasure to speak about Moffi, I invited him to the Eagles for the first time two years ago, he is a very talented player, even stronger physically like many other strikers in Europe’s big teams.”
“Mentally he is very good as well, good discipline, good character, great fighting spirit, good shooting and fantastic headers.
“And he is going for €30m to my former club Nice, can you imagine that?
“Some people at Nice asked me about him before this offer and I gave them my honest recommendation with a good conscience about him with regards to his qualities because he is very strong. Several clubs wanted to sign him. He had seven offers in January and I think it is a good move for him.”
Moffi will hope to open his goals account for Nice when they host Ajaccio in a Ligue 1 encounter at the Allianz Rivera stadium on Friday.
