The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) redesign of the naira and cashless policy is the worst policy that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved.
The governor of Benue argued that if the policy is allowed to continue, it will permanently damage the president’s image.
The governor, in a series of tweets, urged the presidency to review the policy and provide relief to Nigerians before it is too late.
Ortom bemoaned the country’s situation, adding that the policy has put the citizens in severe economic hardship.
Ortom wrote:
Yet, some people are not telling Mr President the truth. Someone close to the President should tell him that this policy will sink his image forever if he allows it to remain the way it is. The Federal Government should review the policy before the situation gets out of hand.
This is the worst policy done by the Federal Government. Nigerians are suffering, and some are dying. The people are feeling the pain; their children can’t go to school; they have nothing to eat. Even those who have money in the banks are not able to access the money.
