Suspected militants of the Biafra Nations League, BNL, have reportedly killed two escorts of an oil vessel near Cameroonian waters.
According to Daily Post, eyewitnesses said the incident happened at about 4 am on Friday in the Idabato subdivision of the Bakassi Peninsula, an area controlled by Cameroon.
Witnesses said the militants had also attacked the vessel which was not on the move and whose origin was not ascertained.
Another source revealed that ”They attempted to set the vessel ablaze.”
He said the militants escaped before the arrival of Cameroonian forces.
In a statement, the leader of BNL, Princewill Richards has declared a stop to vessels taking oil in the eastern end of the Gulf of Guinea.
He warned that the oil vessels are endangering their lives.
