Anambra: Police foil attack on stations in Onitsha, kill 5, recover vehicle, others

Anambra Police in the early hours of today foiled an attempt by armed men to attack 33 Police Station in Onitsha, killing five (5) armed men, and recovered 2 AK 47, and a sienna car.

This is coming barely 24 hours after hoodlums reportedly attacked a police station with petrol bombs and killed three officers in Ogidi, Idemili North local government area of the state.

According to our source, the hoodlums were said met their Waterloo when police working on intelligence report engaged them in gun duel, killing five of them.

Anambra state has become a hot bed for criminal activities in the recent times.

Recall also that on January 8, 2023 some hoodlums have burnt down the Umuchu Police Station, along the Umuchu-Achina road, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Sources said the hoodlums stormed the place at about 3am on Sunday and set the facility on fire.

Though details of the recent incident is still sketchy as at press time, our source revealed that this feat will help restore the confidence of people in the security agencies.

All efforts by our reporter to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Tochukwu Ikenga proved abortive as he was not picking his calls.
