Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has questioned the Federal Government’s silence on Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s continued defiance of the Naira redesign policy.
WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that Nasir El-Rufai insisted on old N500 and N1000 notes being legal tender in the state on Sunday.
The governor directed that no old naira notes be rejected by the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
El-Rufai stated this in a statement issued on Sunday by Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication.
The old and new naira notes, according to Kaduna State Governor, should continue to circulate in the state.
He stated that the directive is consistent with the Supreme Court’s existing order on naira notes.
Reno Omokri, however, claimed in a Twitter post that Ojukwu did not do half of what El-Rufai did before General Gowon’s Military Government moved against him.
He also questioned why the country is not prosecuting Kaduna State’s governor for treason.
He said:
Did Ojukwu do up to what El-Rufai had done before General Gowon’s Military Government moved against him?
Ojukwu didn’t issue the Biafran Pound until January 29, 1968. Yet, Nigeria moved against him. Why is Nigeria my country not moving against El-Rufai for treason?
