The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, are being held in contempt of court for allegedly failing to abide by the Supreme Court’s order extending the deadline for the use of old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.
The three states, who were the original plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the Federal Government’s naira swap policy, warned the AGF and Emefiele in new documents submitted to the Supreme Court about the repercussions of their continued disregard for the February 3 ruling.
The Supreme Court will consider the two sets of Form 48 that were submitted by the group of attorneys defending the three states when hearings pick back up on Wednesday.
