Timipre Sylva’s aide apologises for media publication error

Timipre Sylva

Horatius Egua, a media assistant to Timipre Sylva, the minister of state for petroleum resources, has apologized to Nigerians and business leaders for a mistake in a media report.

Egua issued a statement titled “Theft and Pipeline Vandalism Responsible for Volumes of Crude Losses” on Monday, February 20, 2023, which was credited to the minister and distributed to the media for publication.

He pointed out that the statement was a working draft and shouldn’t have been made available to the media for publication because the Minister had not given his approval.

Egua in the apology stated, “The statement was not in any way released to denigrate the reputation of the head of any agency or government official or to dispute the figures released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. It was released in error.

“I apologise for any discomfort or inconveniences the statement may have caused by it release,” Egua said.
