In the ongoing AFCON Under-20 competition, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles defeated Egypt by a solitary goal on Wednesday thanks to a fantastic goal by Solomon Agbalaka.
The Eagles needed a victory to stay in the tournament after losing their opening game to Senegal by a solitary goal.
After drawing their opening game against Mozambique, Egypt increased their pressure to secure a victory during the first half of the match.
After a goalless first half, Agbalaka headed the Nigerian side into the lead on 71st minute. It was a terrific header from the defender after the ball came in through a corner wiped in by Aminu Mohammed.
The Flying Eagles will now play Mozambique on Saturday in their third match while Egypt will play Senegal.
Earlier, the Nigerian side had an opportunity on 25 minutes but Muhammed’s goal bound shot was saved by the Egyptian keeper.
The Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Bameyi was in deed the hero of the day as he saved several point-blank shots from the Egyptians.
