FG orders screening of NSITF workers’ NYSC certificates

The Federal Government has ordered the new management board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF to screen the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC certificates of all NSITF workers and ascertain their authenticity.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, who gave the order said the decision was to redeem the image of the Fund.

Nigige stated these while speaking at the inauguration of the board at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Recall that a former NSITF boss, Michael Akabogu, was sacked over a forged NYSC certificate.

He said the NSITF and the ministry could not afford to get bad publicity again because of avoidable situations, especially among workers.

Ngige said, “In order to maintain, protect and promote a very viable and thriving organisation, I have four major tasks before the new Management Board of the NSITF.

“To screen and vet the academic and NYSC certificates of National Service of all staff in the Fund. To ensure the full implementation of the NSITF Restructuring Report.”

The chairman of the board, Emmanuel Nwosu, said his team would weed out those with forged academic credentials.

The new Managing Director of the NSITF, Maureen Allagoa, promised accountability.
