Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s younger brother, has been declared the winner of the Katsina Central Senatorial District election.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Yar’adua was declared the winner of the election on Sunday night in Katsina by the Returning Officer for the election, Aminu Kankia.
He stated that Yar’adua of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 153,512 votes, while Aminu Sirajo of the Peoples Democratic Party received 152,140 votes (PDP).
Kankia went on to say that Gambo Abubakar of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) received 16,005 votes, while Aminu Gide of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) received 781.
Yar’adua is a retired Nigerian Army lieutenant colonel.
Aminu Jamo, the APC candidate for Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua federal constituency, has also been declared the winner of the election.
Jamo received 55,964 votes, defeating his closest rival, Abdullahi Aliyu of the PDP, who received 33,398 votes.
Alkasim Sanusi of the NNPP received 2,151 votes.
