Abba Umar, son of the governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, has lost the House of Representatives election to Tijjani Abudlkadir Jobe, of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
Ganduje’s son, who contested under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, lost the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimingado Federal Constituency to Jobe, the incumbent representative of the constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
Jobe is returning to the green chamber for the fifth time.
The NNPP candidate polled 52, 456 votes against Ganduje, who polled 44,809 votes.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Ganduje lost his local government area to the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Ganduje is from Ganduje village in Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano state.
In the results announced by the returning officer, Adamu Jibril, Ganduje’s All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 16,773 votes while NNPP scored 25,072 votes.
