Tinubu wins presidential election in Niger

The All Progressives Congress, APC, standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won Saturday’s presidential election in Niger state.

Tinubu polled a total of 375,183 votes to defeat his rivals in the 25 local government areas of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC presidential election Collation Officer for Niger state, Professor Clement Alawa, who disclosed in Minna said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar came second with 284,898 votes.

Alawa added that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, scored 80,452 votes while the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso came a distant fourth with 2,1836 votes.

According to him, the total valid votes were 778,668, total votes were cast 34,687 while 813,355 votes were rejected.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Tinubu scored 421, 390  to defeat Atiku, who had 386,587 votes in Jigawa State.
