The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP standard bearer, Atiku Abubakar, has won Saturday’s presidential election in Bayelsa State with a total of 68,818 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party came second with a total score of 49, 975 while the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, polled a total of 42, 572 votes to clinch the third position.
The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, announced the results at the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre, at the Bayelsa headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Yenagoa on Monday night.
Cumulatively, Bayelsa State had 1,056,862 registered voters and 177,368 accredited voters across its eight local government areas (LGAs).
It had 165,325 valid votes and 7,786 rejected votes, amounting to 173,111 total votes.
