Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for calling for the cancellation of Saturday’s presidential election.
According to Fani-Kayode, Obasanjo is upset because his preferred candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), is losing the election based on the results declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The former Minister went on to say that Obasanjo is attempting to undermine democracy and has chosen the path of lawlessness and anarchy.
Obasanjo had called for the cancellation of results in certain areas where he claimed compromise had occurred on Monday.
He warned that tensions are rising and that the government must take proactive measures.
Fani-Kayde, on the other hand, disagreed, claiming that the former President has lost his status as a statesman in the ongoing election due to his open support for Peter Obi.
He wrote on Twitter:
After declaring for Obi, OBJ became an interested party & lost the right to act as an independent statesman. He has plunged into the ring of fire & has chosen the path of lawlessness & anarchy.
By attempting to scuttle democracy he has wiped away the good he has done in the past.
