Mai Mala Buni, former chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to the election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State, as Nigeria’s president-elect.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, declared the APC presidential candidate the winner of the February 25th presidential election on Wednesday morning.
Tinubu was declared the winner of the hotly contested election after receiving the most votes (8,794,726).
Reacting to the development, Yobe State Governor, Buni said Tinubu’s victory alongside his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, is the best thing to happen to Nigeria at this time.
Governor Buni stated this in his congratulatory message to Tinubu and Shettima through his Media Aide, Mamman Mohammed.
According to him, the people of Nigeria have expressed great optimism for a better Nigeria as a result of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidency.
Buni contended that Tinubu is a true Nigerian who welcomes Nigerians of diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
His experience in transforming Lagos State would no doubt be used for the transformation of a larger Nigeria, the former APC national chairman said.
Buni therefore urged Nigerians, including other candidates who ran alongside him, to support the President-elect in his efforts to build a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
He prayed to God to guide the incoming Asiwaju/Kashim administration in order to make Nigeria more united, prosperous, and better.
Tinubu is scheduled to receive his Certificate of Return on March 1, 2023.
