Two burnt to death as gunmen open fire on vehicle in Nasarawa

Two people were burnt to death after gunmen opened fire on a pickup van near Ukya village in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

It was gathered that the incident happened last Thursday around 6 pm when the gunmen emerged from the bush and opened fire on the vehicle, conveying the driver and two others who were on their way to load charcoal on a farm.

According to Daily Trust, a resident, Usman Aliyu, said the occupants of the vehicle were trapped when it went up in flames after the shots but that they were rescued and taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, where two of them later died.

The Chairman of Toto LGA, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, did not pick calls put across to him, but one of his aides confirmed the incident through telephone, Daily Trust reports.

The state police spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel, was yet to comment on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
