Okezie Ikpeazu

Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State, directed on Wednesday the immediate promotion of all workers at various levels in order to increase productivity days before the 2023 governorship election.

The governor issued the directive during an interactive session with the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, at the Ochendo International Conference Centre in Umahia.

Ikpeazu stated that his administration employed over 5000 workers despite the advice of some people to lay off workers, stating that he understands the implications of laying off workers, thus his decision to employ more workers.

He insisted that he is always concerned about the welfare of workers, noting that heaven is only where a perfect system exists, and expressed hope that the next PDP administration will pick up where he left off.

He reminded the Abia workers that there is more to do together despite losing in the Senate because he has no regrets because God has helped him through his administration and urged them to vote for PDP candidates in the elections.

Governor Ikpeazu, who admitted that he has not solved all of the state’s problems, said he has done so much to be remembered even as he steps down, assuring that the party’s Governorship candidate, Chief Okey Ahiwe, will do better than him because of his track record.
