Casemiro, a midfielder for Manchester United, was dismissed during the team’s 0-0 Premier League draw with Southampton on Sunday and will now serve a four-game suspension.
In the opening period of Man United’s scoreless draw with Southampton at Old Trafford, Casemiro was dismissed for a challenge on Carlos Alcaraz.
The Brazilian player was initially issued a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor. But he changed it to a red card after viewing the incident on the VAR monitor.
Casemiro has already been sent off in the Premier League this season as he was given a red card in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on February 4.
That means the former Real Madrid star, who has been helpful in Man United’s midfield, will be given a three-game suspension and will sit out a further match because of his previous red card.
This means that Casemiro will now miss Man United’s FA Cup tie at home to Fulham on March 19.
The 31-year-old will also be unavailable for Man United’s Premier League fixtures against Newcastle United, Brentford and Everton, respectively.
He, however, will be in line to return for Erik ten Hag’s side when they face Nottingham Forest in a Premier League tie on April 15.
