Bola Tinubu

According to the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), some people both inside and outside the country do not want Bola Tinubu to be the next President.

YCE said in a statement issued on Saturday by its Secretary-General, Oladipo Oyewole, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory is a victory for all in the South-West and all Nigerians.

Tinubu’s victory, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, should be accepted by all, according to the Council (INEC).

According to the YCE, the former Governor of Lagos State is a source of pride for all Yorubas and Nigerians in general.

The statement reads:

In the first instance, Tinubu’s victory is a victory for all of us in the south-west and all of us in Nigeria.

Some persons did not want him. But, once the result came out and the Certificate of Return was issued, everything should have been laid to rest.

Tinubu is a pride to all sons and daughters of the Yoruba and Nigeria generally.

According to the statement, the leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, has congratulated Tinubu and that his decision remains the association’s position.

According to Oyewole, Fasoranti congratulated Tinubu on behalf of the YCE and Afenifere on his hard-won victory in the presidential election on February 25.

He added:

Baba Fasoranti has sent a very warm congratulatory letter, on our behalf and his own (Afenifere), to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his hard-won victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

That was done in line with the well-known Afenifere practice. This is where Afenifere stands: The Oracle Has Acted and Spoken. Any person or group that may see things differently is free to do so as he is free to exercise his liberty.

Remember that Afenifere, through its General Secretary, Sola Ebiseni, had rejected Tinubu’s victory in the recently concluded presidential election.

The organization said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, won the February 25 election based on results obtained from “credible sources”.

Recall that Afenifere’s interim leader, Ayo Adebanjo, supported Obi’s presidential bid, a decision that was opposed by some Afenifere members, including Fasoranti.
