Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has stated that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is following in the footsteps of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Arthur Nzeribe by calling for the cancellation of a free and fair election.
Fani-Kayode, a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, was reacting to the LP’s flag bearer rejection of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election victory.
In a tweet, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader questioned why other parties were calling for the cancellation of a free and fair election.
He wrote;
Why do Nigerian politicians call for the annulment of a free & fair election after losing & for the scrapping of the Electoral Commission that conducted it? Zik did so after Shagari’s 1979 election, Nzeribe did so after Abiola’s 1993 election & Obi did so after BAT’s 2023 election.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, has petitioned the Presidential Court of Appeal Tribunal for an annulment of the election due to some flaws in the vote collation process.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State, the winner of the presidential election on February 25.
