Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has named Vinicius Junior as the player who is preventing Eden Hazard from playing in his squad.
Hazard has had a difficult time at Real Madrid due to injuries and inconsistency.
In 2019, the 32-year-old joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in a €100 million deal.
The Belgian has not played a single minute of La Liga or UEFA Champions League action since his return from the FIFA World Cup, despite being fit to play.
However, speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League round of 16 second-leg tie with Liverpool on Wednesday, Ancelotti said at his pre-match press conference:
“He [Hazard] doesn’t play because he has a lot of competition and a player in his position who is playing very well, which is Vinicius.”
