The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke has declared Friday, March 17, a public holiday.
The public holiday according to a statement signed by Rasheed Olawale, the spokesperson to the governor, is to enable Osun State residents to travel to their polling units to vote on Saturday for the state House of Assembly elections.
The statement added that Adeleke further advised residents of the state to be peaceful and law-abiding as they prepare for the election.
“I call on Osun people to file out and exercise their civic rights. This election is very critical as you will be electing lawmakers who will be working with me. You must vote right,” Gov Adeleke stated.
In an earlier statement, the acting chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Tajudeen Lawal called on the electorates to take the election seriously and troop out en masse and vote massively for all APC candidates.
Lawal also appealed to all eligible voters to be peaceful, responsible and orderly during the poll on Saturday.
“It is very important for party members, supporters and sympathizers as well as good people of Osun to take the state House of Assembly elections seriously by turning out en masse and vote massively for all APC candidates on Saturday to secure a comfortable working majority for the APC at the state’s House of Assembly,” he said.
