Some ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State have vowed not to release collation materials.
According to the Daily Trust, the electoral body’s staff stood firm in the face of an unnamed politician’s demand for their own share of dollars.
According to reports, the problem began when they arrived at the collation centre in Biu Local Government Area on Saturday night but were unable to locate their Ward Collation Officer, who was supposed to receive the money on their behalf.
When they couldn’t find him at the collation centre, and his phone line was disconnected, they got into a fight.
They claimed that the money was collected on their behalf by the collation officer, who promised to give it to them after the election.
A witness said;
They’re looking for him and trying his number it’s not connecting. They said they won’t release the INEC materials till their share is given to them. A group of them have gone home with the materials.
