Igbos in Lagos State’s Abule Ado area have reportedly been attacked.
The alleged incident occurred after the state’s governorship and house of assembly elections on Saturday.
Two young Igbo men were carried into a vehicle in a video that went viral on social media after allegedly being injured by suspected political thugs.
In response to the news, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin declared that normalcy had been restored in the area.
He did, however, state that, contrary to what was claimed on social media, an intra-community fight broke out in the area earlier this morning, resulting in property destruction.
Owing to the timely arrival of the police, no life was lost and no property was razed as widely claimed.
Two persons have been arrested and an investigation has commenced into the matter. Police officers remain on the ground to prevent further breakdown of law and order, the PRO added.
