The candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Umar Namadi Dammodi, has emerged winner in the Jigawa gubernatorial election, according to The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Returning Officer for the state gubernatorial election, Prof. Zayyanu Umar Birnin Kebbi announced this at the Collation Centre in Dutse, the state capital.
He said Malam Umar Namadi of the APC emerged winner after he scored the high votes of 618,449 to defeat other candidates.
According to him “the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Namadi Umar Alhaji scored 618,449 to beat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lamido Mustapha Sule who scored 368,726 votes and Ibrahim Aminu Ringim of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 37,156 votes”
“Therefore, Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the higher votes, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.,
He said the total registered votes were 2,351,298 while the total accredited votes stand at 1,073,540 and the total votes cast is 1,052,793.
