The Kano State Government has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew as residents await the results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.

The dawn-to-dusk curfew is said to avoid the breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results.

The state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, who made the announcement in a statement on Monday morning said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense situation.

The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or a group bent on causing trouble.

Recall that while NNPP is leading with over 120,000 votes from results announced by collation officers from all the 44 LGAs, INEC is yet to make the final declaration.

It was gathered that the final declaration has been delayed since 3am due to issues on the cancelled votes, Daily Trust reports.

The Returning Officer , however, was about to start declaration of the results by 6:48am when the APC agent at the collation centre began making observations.
