Kano2023: Ganduje govt reacts as NNPP unseats APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, members and supporters have been urged by the Umar Ganduje-led Kano administration to maintain their composure in the wake of Saturday’s election results.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) Abba Kabir Yusuf, a protégé of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, won the closely contested election for governor.

Yusuf Abba polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat the incumbent Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of the APC, who secured 892,705 votes.

Reacting, the Kano authorities told the followers of the ruling party to ignore the provocations by the NNPP in the name of celebrations.

Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba assured of the commitment of Governor Ganduje to protect lives and property.

“The APC is analysing the election process and collation of results with a view to taking a decision at the appropriate time.

“We appeal to members to continue to be resolute, loyal and faithful to the party,” the official added.
