Victor Osimhen of Napoli equaled another Serie A record on Sunday by scoring twice as Napoli defeated Torino 4-0.
After his impressive performance at the Stadio Olimpico Grande, Osimhen increased his goal total in the Italian top division this season to 21 from 23 games.
In terms of the most goals scored by an African player in a top-flight season, the Nigerian international tied the mark set by former Cameroonian international Samuel Eto’o at Inter Milan in the 2010–11 season.
With over months left before the end of the season, the 24-year-old has enough time to break that record.
Osimhen is also two goals away from becoming the highest-scoring African in the history of Serie A.
Former AC Milan striker George Weah, the current president of Liberia, holds that enviable record.
