Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, says Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is an ingrate who failed to recognise and appreciate his good deeds for him in time past.
Obi had, in a post-election interview, said Wike worked against him, stating that he won the election in Rivers state but Wike rigged him out.
“in Rivers where you know the governor came out against me with everything, if the real votes of Rivers are counted, I won. I have over 50 per cent of the votes. The other two parties were sharing the others.” Obi said.
Reacting to Obi’s statement in an interview with pressmen in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Wike took exception to Obi’s statement.
He said Obi is not sincere and unappreciative of his support in the past by saying that he worked against his candidacy during the February 25th presidential election.
“I take exception to Peter Obi’s comments that I came out against him,” Mr Wike said. “People are not being sincere, people are not appreciative. In 2019, ask Peter Obi, I was one of the people that chose Peter Obi to be vice presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar.”
Wike further said people like former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremandu, Ebonyi governor David Umahi and Puis Ayim fought him for supporting Mr Obi to be vice presidential candidate in 2019.
