The Action Alliance has officially stated its stance regarding the recently held governorship election in Gombe State, including the reasons it wants the results thrown out.
The party’s chairman, Auwal Ibrahim, stated that the AA would not accept a “selection” of candidates.
Recall that Ibrahim refused to sign the results sheet after the All Progressives Congress candidate, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, was announced as the winner.
Ibrahim announced the party’s resolution before storming out of the collation centre, emphasising that Brigadier General Nuhu Milah, the flagbearer of his party, found it unacceptable.
Meanwhile, Milah was the only candidate accepted by five political parties prior to the election.
The statement made available to our correspondent on Friday partly read, “On behalf of the the Action Alliance, Gombe State chapter, I hereby write to inform the general public that we have rejected the Gombe State Governorship Election result that was announced yesterday by INEC where Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of the APC was declared winner by INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Maimuna Waziri.”
Explaining the reasons for its rejection, he said, “The rejection came after we have discovered that the results scored by our Gubernatorial Candidate, Brigadier General Miller Nuhu Adeh (retd.), at Polling Units, wards and Local Government Areas were not exactly collated at the final state collation centre.
“On this note, we consider these INEC results and declaration as null and void and we have deployed already our legal team to investigate the INEC result viewing portal (IREV) and manual result sheets for immediate legal action in order to regain and retrieve our mandate in the court of law.”
