Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that the club’s talisman, Bukayo Saka, has “a lot” to improve on despite being one of the world’s hottest young players.
Bukayo Saka has been in outstanding form for both Arsenal and the Three Lions of England. In March, he scored a goal and assisted another in England’s 2-1 win over Ukraine in the country’s Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Prior to the international break, the 21-year-old Nigerian-born England international had been the driving force behind Arsenal’s Premier League title push this season.
Saka has appeared in all of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season. Surprisingly, he has performed admirably in all of them. His outstanding play has earned him numerous man-of-the-match awards at both the international and club levels.
It’s worth noting that the pacy and versatile 21-year-old winger has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 28 Premier League games this season.
Arsenal is currently leading the Premier League table with 69 points in 28 games, thanks to his outstanding performance, particularly in the Premier League. They have an 8-point lead over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
When asked if there was a further improvement to come from Saka, coach Mikel Arteta said:
Yes.
First of all, I think you have to recognize what he’s been doing. The consistency he’s shown at his age and this level is something rare to see. He’s taken it with normality.
If you ask me if he has room for improvement, I would say: ‘Yes – a lot.’ He’s never satisfied, he always wants more and he can still do a lot of things better and more efficiently.
But we are really pleased to have him.
Arsenal are set to offer a mega-deal to Bukayo Saka to reward him for his outstanding performance thus far and protect him from suitors in the upcoming transfer window.
The new contract is already on the table, despite the fact that his current contract, which pays him only £70,000 per week, is set to expire in June 2024.
According to the Daily Mail, Saka’s new contract, which he has yet to sign, will keep the 21-year-old English sensation at the club until 2028.
The icing on the cake is that if Saka signs the contract, he will earn a whopping £300,000 per week. Once that is completed, Saka will become Arsenal’s highest-paid player and the Premier League’s ninth-highest-paid player.
