Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved the immediate sack of all political appointees in the state after his the ruling Peoples Democratic Party lost the March 18th governorship election to Labour Party.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, who made this known said those affected include: Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and Technical Officers.
The sack thereby increased the number of appointees Ikpeazu has fired after his failed senatorial election and his inability to install his successor.
Ikpeazu further directed the State Accountant General to ensure immediate payment of March 2023 stipends to all the appointees.
The governor thanked them for their contributions and services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party as the winner of Abia State governorship election.
Otti polled a total of 175, 467 votes defeat his closest rival, Chief Okey Ahiwe of the PDP, who scored 88,529 votes.
