Oyedepo: “They Edited Out the Muslim – Muslim Ticket Discussion” – Obi’s aide

Peter Obi

Valentine Obienyem, a media aide to Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, has claimed that a team of communications experts has begun investigating calls made by his principal in the last three years.

Obienyem made the revelation on Sunday, following the alleged leak of an audio tape conversation between Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo.

Obi was said in the audio to have asked Bishop Oyedepo to help him secure votes from Christians in the southwest ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

In response to the audio, Obienyem stated that those behind the audio purposefully edited out the context of the conversation between Obi and Oyedepo.

He also claimed that the leaked phone conversation was caused by a ‘Nnewi prodigal brother’ who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leader of the team of experts investigating Obi’s call history.

The goal of those behind the leaked tape, according to Obienyem in a Facebook post, is to find any record of Obi mentioning the interim national government during his conversations so security agents can arrest him for treason.

Obienyem said:

The badly doctored conservation with Bishop Oyedepo released by our Nnewi prodigal brother is the much they have discovered so far.

They edited out the Muslim-Muslim ticket that led to the discussion, where Obi said that in a society like ours, religious balancing was a necessary consideration and that their recklessness had made Christians to assume it was a religious war.

Obienyem added:

I heard they set up a Committee made up of some Communications experts, headed by our prodigal brother from Nnewi. They are reviewing all calls Obi made in the last three years, and especially now to see if he mentioned Interim Government or anything that will make them prosecute him for treason when and if they take over. Till now, they are yet to see any.

Meanwhile, Bishop Oyedepo has already denied ever campaigning for any particular politician or political party.
