Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has set two conditions for the club, led by President Florentino Perez, in order to extend his contract with the Los Blancos.

Benzema’s demands, according to El Nacional, include being the undisputed starter and claiming a higher wage that reflects his value as a player.

According to the report, Perez is hesitant to do so because Benzema’s demands are unrealistic in his opinion.

Perez is also contemplating the acquisition of a new central striker, which would complicate the Frenchman’s position in the pecking order.

Benzema’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season.

There is growing tension among Real Madrid fans about the 35-year-old’s future at Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite Perez’s reservations, Benzema, who scored a hat-trick against Valladolid on Sunday, has continued to prove his worth to the team.
