Lagos State’s government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has implemented new technology that will improve coordinated parking operations in the state.
Adebisi Adelabu, General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), confirmed this on Tuesday, noting that the technology will enable a seamless parking experience across the metropolis.
According to him, LASPA collaborated with ARCA Payment Ltd. to create the parking payment application in order to improve the overall parking system by ensuring a smooth transaction process for permits, registration, and inquiries, among other things.
According to Adelabu, the initiative is committed to integrating technological solutions into the authority’s parking management system, which will provide a user-friendly system while building an accurate database to manage parking proceedings for the state.
She stated that the authority had adopted innovative methods of providing long-term solutions to parking challenges for a safe and secure environment and that the ultimate goal was to provide Lagosians with the best parking experience possible.
Adelabu stated that the initiative ensures a stress-free experience for end-users of the authority’s services, emphasizing the impact on reconciliation and revenue assurance for the government.
The general manager emphasized that the authority was committed to assisting various organizations and business entities in identifying and proposing long-term solutions to their parking challenges, as most organizations operating in the state lacked adequate parking space, contributing to indiscriminate parking.
Adelabu stated that the government had begun the installation of signage and lane markings in phases across the state to guide motorists and pedestrians on available parking lots while describing the various interventions introduced to reduce indiscriminate parking across the state.
She urged the public to support the LASPA’s efforts to improve the state’s parking system, noting that parking regulations enforcement had significantly reduced road mishaps and traffic congestion across the metropolis.
