Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani claims that supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi are more peaceful than those who supported President Muhammadu Buhari’s ambition in 2011.
Many Nigerians accused Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, of inciting violence during election campaigns.
Following alleged verbal attacks on other presidential candidates, supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, labelled Obidients as violent.
But Sani in a tweet on Wednesday, claimed Buhari’s supporters in the 2011 presidential election were more violent than Obi’s supporters.
“NO patriot should trigger or encourage anarchy; but we shouldn’t also ‘shorten our memories’, what Peter’s supporters are doing in 2023 is more peaceful than what Buhari’s supporters did in 2011.
“You only need to recall the past in order to appreciate the present”, he wrote.
